City of Palms Park Information

Fort Myers, FL Hotels

The City of Palms Park is also home to the Gulf Coast League Red Sox. The park has a capacity of 8,200. It is owned by the City of Fort Myers, Florida. The Boston Red Sox minor league complex and the Eddie Popowski Field is located a short distance away. City of Palms Park is baseball south Florida style - complete with palm trees past the outfield fence. Box seats are under a covered grandstand - a big advantage when the hot Florida sun is baking the Gulf Coast. There are two main sections of the park. This early 1990's complex contains a 9,000-square-foot visiting-team clubhouse, and four enclosed batting tunnels. The City of Palms Park also features Boston Red Sox administrative offices, three executive booths, and complete media facilities. It was designed by HOK Sport - architects of many other professional baseball stadiums across the US.

South Florida Baseball History

A bit of Florida baseball history is preserved at nearby Terry Park Stadium - possibly the oldest Florida baseball park still standing. The park is located east of Fort Myers and still used by amateur baseball teams. This historic ballpark is more than 75 years old. It has not been used by MLB since the Kansas City Royals trained there. The old Terry Stadium was originally the spring training home of Connie Mack and his Philadelphia Athletics. Built in 1925, the park was rebuilt in 1955 and 2005. A Florida Spring Training Museum is being considered for the park. History and baseball fans would enjoy a visit to this historic ballpark.
