2007 Boston Red Sox AL East Predictions
The 2007 MLB Baseball Season is underway and most of the professional sportswriters and pundits have predicted a repeat for the New York Yankees. The Red Sox, according to many, will finish better than last year but not better than their arch rivals, the New York Yankees. Most writers that is, except this one. The 2007 edition of the Boston Red Sox is going to surprise alot of people. The real winners - Red Sox Fans, as Red Sox Nation goes more international than ever.
Boston Red Sox 2007 Edition
The Boston Red Sox brass made some bold and daring moves in the off season. The addition of Julio Lugo, J.D. Drew and Daisuke Matsuzaka will pay off big-time this year. But the Red Sox surprise finish will also be due to big comeback years for Josh Beckett, Tim Wakefield, Captain Jason Varitek, and Coco Crisp.
From the Fenway home opener through Labor Day Fenway will be electric this summer. Remember, pitching is the name of the game and this year the Red Sox have the talented arms to dominate - not the Yankees. With Schilling, Beckett, Matsuzaka, Wakefield, and Tavarez as starters; Papelbon, Timlin, and Donnelly in the pen and promising newcomers Manny Delcarmen, Jon Lester, and Craig Hansen waiting in the minors, this year the Red Sox have depth - at nearly every postion.
