Born in Puerto Rico in 1974, Mike Lowell played for the NY Yankees and the Florida Marlins before being traded to the Red Sox in 2006. Because of his outstanding and consistent performance during the 2007 season as well as his key role in winning the World Series that same year, Lowell was invited to be an American League All Star reserve player. He went on to win the coveted 2007 World Series MVP - only the second Puerto Rican in history to do so. To date, Lowells stats include a batting average of .280 with 207 home runs and 879 runs batted in.
