Brought up from the minor leagues in 2007, Jacoby Ellsbury is the first Najavo Native American to play in the MLB. Ellsbury is known for his speed, defensive skills and innate ability to steal bases successfully. Ellsbury was invited to participate at the 2007 spring training in Ft. Meyers, FL, although he was still part of the farm system. At that time, he was the number one prospect in the system. In June of 2007, Ellsbury made his MLB debut against the Texas Rangers. During the 2007 World Series, Ellsbury batted .438 with four doubles and a stolen base. In an April 2009 games against the Yankees, Ellsbury stole home plate while the bases were loaded, making him the first Red Sox player to achieve that kind of a steal in ten years.
