Hideki Okajima is a left-handed relief pitcher for the Boston Red Sox who joined the roster in 2007. Okajima joined the Major League All Star Baseball Game that same year. Prior to joining the Red Sox, Okajima played with the Yomiuri Giants and the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters. His stats, as of 2009, include a Win-Loss of 8-4, an ERA of 2.50 and 143 strikeouts.
Okajima is noted for his unique pitching style, which tends to throw off the batters and get them to swing early. His disguised pitches leave his pitching arm swinging towards third base as he looks to the ground - some say this adds velocity to his throws.
