Prior to being signed by the Red Sox in 1995, Tim Wakefield played with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Wakefield is the longest-lasting member of the Red Sox team today, and is considered one of the best pitchers in Red Sox history. Wakefield is most well known for his unpredictable knuckleballs, which can vary in speed anywhere from 55 mph to 69 mph. Wakefield played in both World Series wind by the Red Sox in 2004 and 2007, and was voted the 1995 AL Comeback Player of the Year. As of mid-2009, Wakefield's stats included a win-loss of 183-158, and ERA of 4.30 and 1932 strikeouts.
