Born in Cuagus, Puerto Rico in 1975, Alex Cora started his Red Sox career as a backup for shortstop Edgar Renteria. Cora was part of the Red Sox roster for the longest nine-inning game in MLB history - a four hour, fourty five minute match against the Yankees on August 18, 2006.
Prior to his membership in the Red Sox, Cora played with teh LA Dodgers and the Cleveland Indians. After leaving the Red Sox in 2006, Cora signed a contract with the New York Mets.
