Baseball History: Boston Red Sox 1901 - Pres.

Baseball and Boston date back to the late 1870's when the Boston Braves took the field in the National League.

The American League came to Boston in 1901 and on April 22nd of that year the Boston Americans lost to the Baltimore Orioles but baseball history was made.

The Boston roster featured some future all-stars and Hall of Fame members; Tris Speaker, Harry Hooper, Duffy Lewis, and Babe Ruth (then a thin, hard-throwing left-handed pitcher).
